Its amazing how you find nice people everywhere……

Two months ago, on a sunny day as we were riding the currents back in Wee Jasper, our parents talked to a couple, Di and Wayne. But what we didn’t know was that two months later they would invite us not only to their house but provide us with electricity, WIFI and a helping hand. On a wonderful, rather windy morning I woke up not in the caravan but in a premium bed provided by Di and Wayne, the owners of the property. I realized my Fitbit was setting off an alarm and that had slept in, but I couldn’t blame myself as it was a warm bed and not my caravan. I jumped out of bed and went to see what was on the menu until I realized my brothers where on the couch watching TV. I went to have breakfast and they’re was a grand display of food on the table waiting for me. We all dug in including the dogs as from time to time I like to feed them a little extra. After breakfast we left the house and set off to The Glasshouse Mountain. We were there to go to the look out but as we found out some people have died there as it is climbed by many hikers and it was very steep.

Due to us not being prepared we just went to have a look and made it to the base of the mountain and noticed that there were two tracks. The goat track was an easier track and had more protection over rocks and sticks. Then there was the hard track “adults only”. We tried going up the first part but always ended up back at the bottom as it was so steep.

We left and went to a town called Maleny, had a look for something to eat and eventually found a small plaza which had a lot of international food. I rarely knew what most of the food was, but it looked delicious. We ended up with some crepes from France which I have never tried but ended up liking it as I had it with some strawberry jam.

Next stop, the cheese factory. We got to have many samples and my personal favorite was the tomato cheese as it tasted like both at the same time. Some cheeses I tasted was rather weird such as the Smokey cheese with just tasted like burned cheese and smoke. My mouth felt very dry and I tried to get rid of the taste by eating some yogurt.

As we thought that this day can’t possibly get better we were wrong, we went see Kondalilla falls.

This was our last hike of the day, so we made it count. It took us about 40 minutes to arrive at the base of the falls, but we encountered many adventures, so it was worth it. Before we arrived, we climbed over a few rocks and saw what we came to see, a fresh huge waterfall. We went closer to get the picture of the day.

On our way back we came towards an unexpected guest, my little scaly friend, a snake. Before I even noticed the snake, I ran into dad before realizing what was happening. I stood still not trying to move until it slithered off the path.

A few days later I realized it was a carpet python and that they were not venomous. We went back to our caravan packed, said goodbye and thanked Di and Wayne. We set off to our next destination, Rockhampton.
