Rockhampton

Rockhampton was a small town in Queensland and on the week we arrived, it happened to be “Beef week”. Beef week happens every 3 years and it was quite funny that we as vegetarians got there on that week but dad was in heaven. When we arrived at Gracemere Caravan Park we looked out to meet my mums friend Paul who even though he was not able to join us in our trip around Australia he met us with us in Rockhampton.

Paul was a nice chap and had a friendly dog called Ellie I played with her a lot although Lola my small black dog got jealous all the time.

The caravan park was nice, it had toilets which I liked and electricity.

As soon as we got to the caravan park we met up with the manager and he offered us to go for a ride on his buggy and we were glad to. It looked like he knew what he was doing as he went in the bush into a secret track. Luckily for my brothers they didn’t get hit by branches as they were sitting at the back. At the end of the ride it looked like I could go for a shower as I was full of leaves and a little bit off mud.

Every second day mum and Paul would do a strict exercise routine and on that particular day I thought I would hop along with them and join. Five minutes later we got there and arrived at a small water park but then it came to my attention that they were heading to the oval not the water park. I was late as they were already doing 100-metre sprints for warm up. Most of the time I would be ahead but from time to time I would get tips from Paul on running and pacing.

Having Paul made it a lot more enjoyable during our time at Rockhampton. At 6:00pm we went for lunch at the pub. It was a very tasty meal but what really lit up the moment was how funny Paul was. We spent half an hour watching a movie as the adults were having an adult conversation.

Time was flying in Rockhampton as we did training sessions and library visits. One day we decided to go to the library and do the usual home schooling. I just did some math’s then a little of blog before I just read some books. I was a little curious what the tropic of Capricorn was, so I did a bit of research and found out that the tropic of Capricorn is the dividing line between the southern temperate zone to the south and the tropics to the north.

As we were finishing our time in Rockhampton we decided to go to the zoo.

This was a small zoo, but I didn’t mind as it was free of charge. We started off to see the 98% human DNA animal also known as the Chimpanzee. They rather looked lazy until a fight broke off between the chimpanzees and blood was involved.

I couldn’t stand it, so I went to a non-fighting animal such as the Koala. It felt like it was slow-motion as it slowly ate some eucalyptus leaves. I went to see the wombats as it was all curled up in a sleeping position. Slowly the hours went bye and I decided to end the day with some ice poles. While we were having some ice poles we ran into some intruders who was trying to steal our food. The parrots were starting to get annoying but to my amazement my brother Josh was able to touch one with his hand.

For our last day at Rockhampton we went with Paul to a recommend beach called Yeppoon. It was a great way to end this wonderful time with Paul.
