Getting hotter……...

After leaving Lawn Hill we went through unknown territory towards Borroloola.

It was like a marathon but in a car as we did 10 hours worth of driving. We preserved our snacks as we had limited food it felt like we were driving for days. As soon as we got there we all collapsed not only where we hungry, but we were tired and full of pins and needles. We stayed at Borroloola overnight to relax and have a break.

The next day we set off to Daly Waters which wasn’t far from Borroloola. When we arrived at Daly waters still the weather was not on our side as we set up under the scorching sun. When we finished, without a doubt, we went in the pool as we were exhausted and hot.

For once in my life I wished that it was freezing as I was burning. I jumped in and felt nice and cool and now ready for other activities. We decided to spend some money on food as we have done an excellent job on the road. Our food and entertainment arrived as a circus family came on stage. We enjoyed our stay as there was great food and great entertainment. The circus act consisted of: 5 family members stacking up forming a pyramid, a boy eating a sword, some Chinese toys and some flips.

We packed up in the dust and went to Mataranka.

We stopped at a recommended hot spring but in the end, it was two crowded for our liking, so we moved on to our next hot spring.

We arrived at Bitter springs and rather liked as we planned to stay there for 3 days unlike Mataranka hot springs which was a pool Bitter Springs was a river. I got my noodle out and got going but just before I got in I saw the van of the Irish family we met at Gregory Downs. We went in together had a blast saw goannas and turtles with our snorkels. As I started getting cold we eventually jumped out and went back to our caravan. After 3 more days of going in the hot springs and relaxing we went to Katherine.

We arrived at Kathrine and there was already a sight to see as there was Woolworths. My food expectations just went up a level as we stocked up on everything we need. After having a decent meal we set off to Katherine Hot springs. Usually in Melbourne there would be spas at pools but in the in the outback there would be hot springs. We jumped off a small ledge and landed in the hot pool then we just cooled down. We spent the remaining days stocking up on fuel and food at Kathrine Then we took the long and dusty road to Darwin. We stayed at a free camp at Edith falls half way to Darwin we were again exhausted.

Using up all our energy on setting up the caravan and leashing the dogs all I wanted to do was sleep.

The next morning feeling very fresh we had a little swim at Edith Gorge. When I said a little swim, I was wrong as I saw the falls only 100 meters away. Knowing that there was Fresh water crocodiles (Freshies) didn’t help either. My brothers and I teamed up and created a raft with our noodles and like always I was the (engine). We made it there and had a shower for our hard work.

The next morning, we moved on towards Manon Dam. It was another free camp but better as Deb and Darren were there. We set up and had a cuppa with Deb and Darren it was very interesting, but I needed to go to the toilet. I went with my brother and he suddenly stopped and let the snake pass I pretty sure it was a black snake. Luckily it was more afraid of us and slithered off. I waited until the coast was clear and headed back to the caravan with the exiting news
